I love “Unknown Caller”

August 27th, 2008 by Steve Powers

Went to an audition this afternoon right after work, then rolled over to the Network Austin Mixer to hear Bonnie Orr speak. Got some face time with some acting friends and on my way back to the car I got a call from the earlier audition that I booked the role! (Comedy! After a string of dark and dramatic roles I’m looking forward to funny again) Just as I got off the phone with my new director I got a call from a marketing research company that is going to pay me for my opinions on some technology stuff. Another load off my mind because that’s paying for my new headshots! Now I’m at home with Holly having homemade chicken pot pie. Overall I give today an A+.

New Youtube Channel

August 17th, 2008 by Steve Powers

Just made a Youtube page with a collection of the projects that I have acted in or contributed to in some meaningful way. Now to comb Youtube and see how many of the projects I’ve worked on are out there. I won’t upload anything that I don’t have full rights to out of respect for the directors and producers that have trusted me with copies of the work. It’s right here:

I love having shoots on the horizon…

August 16th, 2008 by Steve Powers

Over the next month I’ll be on the set for three different projects. An industrial shooting at the end of this month, a short in early September and and a featurette next weekend. It makes me happy to have something to shoot on the schedule. Like looking forward to Christmas, but it comes many times a year.

Busy Weekend

August 3rd, 2008 by Steve Powers

I just got the part of Stanley in “Falling to Pieces”!  The callback was on Friday. The table read is next Friday and my scenes shoot near the end of the month.

Saturday morning was my table read as Biff in “Memory” by Gino Montoya. I was delighted to see Heath Allyn when I walked into the room. We have been in similar orbits this year and keep ending up on the same sets (Arron Albiet, Born in Sin…) We’ll be shooting “Memory” in two weeks.

I am also rehearsing a pair of scenes for Mona Lee’s final class of the session with respective scene partners Derek and Linda.
